Janine Edgar is mum to two young children and is very excited to be bringing this fun and educational course to Hadleigh and the surrounding areas. She is very much looking forward to meeting you and sharing the excitement of baking, tasting and taking on new experiences! In addition to the courses stated below Janine also runs an after school club at St.Mary's School in Hadleigh and Hadleigh Primary School as well as course for the little ones at Just Learning Nursery (Pinewood).

Fit for a Queen – Inter-School’s Cookery Competition

Crafty Cooks and The Instant Assistant have teamed up to run a children’s competition to highlight the Queen’s Jubilee. As you may know, Camilla Parker Bowles’ brain child is a competition for 10 – 15yrs olds to design a menu for the Queen to mark her jubilee, which is locally sourced and British. In support of this - we wanted to involve and get the message out to as many children as we could. To do this, we are running a competition for 2.5yrs – 9yrs olds in the Suffolk area. For them to compete, they would have to complete two stages. Firstly, they would bake some cupcakes, our recipe suggestion is carrot cake, but they could choose anything as long as it was locally sourced and seasonal. Secondly, they would have decorate it so that it was fit for the Queen. The idea is to break the ages into 3 categories and get them competing internally within their school. We hope that this will focus the schools not only on the jubilee but also on the food and where it sourced. Once they have done that, the 3 finalists from each age category and school would be put into a bigger group to be judged for the grand winner!

Our idea is not only to push local produce but for the kids to have fun cooking and learning about the Jubilee.
