In the last few years I have seen an increase in children or all ages attending sessions due to complexities around food. This could be purely fussy eating or more complex issues such as ARFID or binge eating.Â
I currently offer 1-2-1 or small family groups whereby we take the pressure of a little and bake whilst 'exploring' the foods. It's not all about the eating, it's about lowering the anxiety around new foods and slowly stopping a whole sensory overload.
Due to this I am now studying with the National Centre for Autism and Mental Health to gain a certificate in Autism and Eating disorders/ disordered eating. I will soon be adding 1-2-1 food exporation sessions alongside my cooking classes. the two will compliment each other. A quieter environment in which we can take our time to really work out the best approach for each child in a fun and motivational way, alongside a class with their buddies in which they see children interacting happily and tasting new foods.
If you have a child that you think would benefit from this, whatever the age, then please do get in touch. I'd love to help.
